Leisure Cycling on the Via VerdeClaire and Ashley have lived in Spain since November 2004 and they moved here from Peterborough in the UK. Claire's grandmother travelled through Spain, the Balleric Islands and Morroco during the late 70's and early 80's bringing Claire on holiday with her on numerous occasions. Claire grew up listening to Flamenco music and had an overwhelming desire to retrace her grandmothers footsteps. Ashley has ridden a bike for as long as he cares to remember and is a mountain bike instructor and bike mechanic. In 2002 they decided to follow their dream of living in Andalucia and setting up a cycling holiday business the 'Andalucian Cycling Experience'.

Single track mountain biking The Andalucian Cycling Experience is a small family run business based in Montecorto, near Ronda, in the Malaga province of Andalucia. Claire and Ashley specialise in organising mountain biking, road cycling, leisure riding and family cycling holidays. The wonderful climate here in Andalusia means that the conditions for cycling are excellent throughout the year. Whether you are a beginner or experienced rider, young or old, male or female, mountain biker, leisure cyclist, enjoy riding with your family or a triathlete, this beautiful area of Spain has fantastic routes to suit all fitness levels and abilities.

For mountain biking the terrain is well suited to having a real blast, the Sierra de Grazalema, Serrania de Ronda and Sierra de las Nieves are littered with quality single track, fast flowing jeep tracks, tough climbs and exhilerating downhilling. Ashley, who is a mountain bike instructor, will help you develop your skills and techniques thus giving you the confidence to ride up, down and over tracks you may not have even considered walking in the past.

Road Cycling up Las PalomasThis area of Spain is a road cycling paradise. To the south of the Andalucian Cycling Experience base you'll be riding in the mountains all day long with hardly a flat section in sight, you'll be either climbing or descending. The climbs are long and challenging but the exhilerating descents make all the hard work worthwhile. To the north the landscape undulates through rolling farmland with the rides generally completed at a faster pace with the ascents just long enough to get you out of breath and the descents over before you know it. Our location gives you, the rider, a wide and varied choice of routes.

Whilst Ashley looks after the road cycling and mountain biking side of things Claire takes the leisure and family groups out. The leisure riding and family cycling are a more relaxed affair with all the rides rated 'easy' and completed at a gentle pace. We ride to a different white village (pueblo blanco) every day with plenty of time to stop, take photos, have lunch at local tapas bars and explore the villages. Tired legs need not mean the end to the days riding as our support van will collect those tired members of the group whilst everyone else can carry on enjoying their biking.
