Fly Spain school of paragliding is based in the pretty white village (pueblo blanco) of Algodonales in the foothills of the impressive 3,400ft Sierra de Lijar Mountain in Andalucia, southwest Spain. This region of Andalusia is famed for its perfect flying conditions and is host to numerous British, Spanish National and World Hang-gliding championships. The panoramic views of lakes and mountain ranges provides a dramatic backdrop to our base in Algodonales. Fly Spain is run by Nikki and Rob, Rob is a highly regarded pilot, accredited to the British Hang-Gliding and Paragliding Association.

Paragliding in Andalucia

"Fly Spain" offer courses for beginner, novice or experienced pilots. The beginner/novice courses are led by two instructors and consist of lectures, flight debriefs and personal flying tuition. The intermediate courses give tuition on thermalling and cross country flying. Instructors are on hand to give useful hints and tips so you can make the most of your flying time in southern Spain. The Advanced weeks are run specifically for pilots who compete at the highest levels and have a deep appreciation of every aspect of paragliding.

Cross Country ParaglidingThe wonderful weather we enjoy in Andalusia, southern Spain, combined with the excellent instructors at "Fly Spain" means that, whatever the time of year you want to fly, you can have the best time in the best hands. The Sierra de Lijar is open to most wind direction and therefore provides consistently good flying conditions throughout the year. Early Spring gives good thermals with a cloud base between 5500 & 8000ft. The Lijar enjoys a number of take off sites so whatever the wind direction there is plenty of opportunity to fly during the day from early morning through to sunset.

As an adventure sport, paragliding is one of the very few where men and women can compete on equal terms, as physical strength and body weight are not an issue. Neither is it a specialist sport as there are tens of thousands of paragliders across Europe alone. It does not demand a high level of fitness and you can learn at your own pace and in a friendly environment.

Fly Spain

Paragliding offers the one elusive thing that man has always strived for - the ability to fly and see some of the world’s most stunning locations from a bird’s eye view. Once you have gained experience and progressed to thermalling, you will even be able to fly with the birds, such as kites, buzzards and even vultures! All you need is the right equipment, the expert tuition from one of our instructors and the Spanish wind beneath your wings.
