Ferias and fiestas are an intrinsic part of life within the villages and towns of Andalucia, southern Spain. Normal working hours are abandoned in favour of taking to the streets to participate in a solemn religious procession or a lively historic battle enactment.
Various celebrations occur throughout the year and the emphasis generally turns to eating, dancing, drinking and general merriment late into the night at such times. Whether it is Carnival in February or Fairs during summer, each is very much a colourful, family event. |
