Entrance to Arabic Baths in JerezIn the old part of Jerez, a stones throw away from the city Cathedral, are the Hammam Baños de Arabes (Arabic Baths). Set in an 18th century palatial townhouse the baths have been beautifully restored using traditional stucco tiling and carving techniques. As soon as you cross the threshold you notice an air of peace and tranquility that helps ease away the stresses and strains of modern day life. Claire and I were invited by the owners Matthew and his wife to enjoy a bath and a relaxing massage.

Reception at the Arabic Baths in JerezIt was a morning of pure pleasure and self indulgence. First we spent an hour bathing in the three baths, one tepid, one hot and the third ice cold. It is recommend to spend 5 - 10 minutes in each of the tepid and hot baths followed by a plunge into the ice cold bath, this is really refreshing and prepares you for the next lap, however, for Claire this is her least favourite part and I have to control the laughter from within as she takes the plunge and within a blink of the eye she's out again and already back into the tepid bath. The atmosphere is created by soft lighting and enchanting music and the baths truly are a place to switch off, unwind and relax. After approximately an hour we are called for our massages which I must say were heavenly.

The baths are open from 10am every day, it's best to book your treatment in advance as they are very busy. Treatments start from 15 Euros per person just to bathe (this takes about an hour and a half) up to 85 Euros per person for the full works of pampering bliss, this entails a bath + full body exfoliation + a choice of either clay / aloe vera / chocolate bath and facial mask + 30 minute massage (this takes about two and a half hours).

Relaxing MassageWe have, on a previous occasion, had the full aloe vera body exfoliation and face mask and although I was not too sure about partaking in all this girly stuff, I really did have a great time. Firstly, it was quality time spent with Claire and secondly I felt a million dollars when I left and was completely relaxed. The whole treatment took 2 and a half hours, afterwards we went upstairs and relexed in the bar. So boys, if you are looking for a way to impress your other half then the Arabic Bath experience is a must. It is a day that you'll both remember for a very long time.

After our treatments we went upstairs to the bar/lounge where we enjoyed some herbal teas and natural water. This area is available for private functions and has large comfortable sofas plus tables & chairs. There is also a selection of snacks and other refreshments available.

The staff are all very friendly and it is not necessary to speak Spanish. You can make your reservations by calling (+34) 956 349 066 or emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
