The village of Benamahoma is located in the Sierra de Grazalema between the villages of El Bosque and Grazalema. It beautiful position nestles against the slope of the Sierra del Pinar in a small valley surrounded by Mediteranean woodland, orchards of fruit trees and olive groves. The name of the village is derived from Arabic "Ibn Mohammed" or "Sons of Mohammed" and like many of the "pueblos blancos" of Western Andalusia this is reflected in the architecture of red roof tiles and thickly whitewashed walls. Current population is around 400 inhabitants.
