At first glance, Algodonales has the classic signs of Arabic origins with its narrow streets and whitwashed houses but it's history can be traced as far back as neolithic times. Romans settled here  and parts of the old city wall remain intact whilst archaeologists  have uncovered the cisterns used to store rain water.

In modern times this picturesque village that nestles against the Sierra de Lijar mountains close to the Sierra de Grazalema natural park has become a mecca for hangliders from all over the world to practise their sport (The Sierra de Lijar hosted the world hang gliding championships in 2001).

More information will be coming to this page very soon. If you have a business and would like to appear on this page then please get in touch with us at the Grazalema Guide.
