The new visitors centre has recently opened in the village of Grazalema. The 'Centro de Interpretación Turístico' can be found on the main car park, near to the viewpoint. It is open from Thursday to Sunday 10.00 until 14.00 (closing for lunch) and 17.00 until 19.00.

The "Colours of Grazalema" photographic exhibition is displayed on the ground floor and entry is free to see  almost 100 colourful images of the wildlife of the area. This exhibition is a small selection of the images recorded by Clive and Sue who live near to Grazalema.

The colours of Grazalema

Clive and Sue have long enjoyed nature photography and wish to share their love of the natural surroundings of the Sierra de Grazalema through this exhibition of images. Their website, “Photosierra” offers prints for sale as well as an  expanding range of postcard sets designed for businesses. Presently the postcard sets cover nature, architecture, art and a working flour mill museum.

On the ground floor of the new centre is the information point and a video salon showing two films consecutively about the nature of the area, plus another large room which will house a shop selling local produce at a later date. Upstairs is another video viewing area with an ethnographic theme.

Although open for information, the project is not yet complete. For the moment there is no phone/fax connection to be able to assist with entry permits into the park's walks, these should still be sought through your hotel accommodation or via the main park tourist office in El Bosque (Tel: 956 727 029). That said, the lady in charge is very helpful and will try to help you where possible. She can speak some English and is fluent in German.

Excellent news, and thanks for letting us know their opening times.

It's a shame El Bosque is the only office that provides the entry tickets, though I've mentioned the idea to the CITE office in Ronda, and they've promised to look into offering the service, but I think it might be a while until it happens. I'll keep you informed.

Remember also that a hotel is able to contact the El Bosque office to get permissions for their customers... The permission is faxed directly to the hotel...
